Description
The town of Nain lies on the border of one of Iran’s largest deserts, the Dasht-e-Kavir.
Known as a city rug, Nain Persian rugs are distinctive for the mainly blue and white delicate floral patterning, sometime highlighted in pale pink, pale yellow or pale green.
They are fine Persian rugs. The traditional Nain pattern has a central highly detailed medallion surrounded by intricate arabesques and floral details mirroring the blue and white tiles in Mosques. The very soft woollen pile details are often highlighted in a silk. Nain is made in 4 qualities 12La, 9La, 6La and 4La with ‘La’ meaning layer in Farsi (Iranian language), the lower the number La the finer the rug.
