Description
Maswak rugs are inspired by the traditional Mushwani and Barjasta Kilims which are made by Nomadic Tribes living close to towns in Herat, Western Afghanistan.
Maswak are made in Western Afghanistan. The rugs are about 50% pile and 50% kilim flat weave. These rugs have bands of pile running horizontally interspersed with bands of flat weave/kilim giving a relief effect to the surface texture. Each band of pile contains tiny blocks of varied colours. These rugs come in a whole range of colours from muted, greys, blues and yellows, to vibrant rainbow colours.
