Chob Rang rugs made by our Turkoman weavers, are of a high quality double knot. These rugs are traditional patterns with a current, tasteful and sophisticated colour palette. Vegetable dyed handspun wool achieves the subtle and alluring shades used. Amongst our Chob Rang range you will also find Khotan, Ikat, Mamluk, Pazyrk, Suzani, Kashan Motasham and many more patterns.
Mamluk rugs are inspired by old Mamluk rugs created by soldier slaves in Egypt during the 13th-16th centuries. The central medallion is often more circular or hexaganol than diamond shape and radiates outward filling the centre area of the rug with intricate patterns.
Pazyrk rugs are inspired by the oldest remaining rug still in existence today and on display in the Hermitage museum in St. Peterburg, Russia. The Original Pazyryk rug was excavated by archeologists in 1949 from a burial mound in Siberia and was almost fully preserved in ice. It is thought to be a Persian pattern made by the Pazyryk nomads in the 5th Century BC.
Khotan rugs take their pattern from an old Uzbek and Samarkand rugs. It is distinguished by its symmetrical Rectangles around a circular shaped central motif, with a gentle play on colours.
Ikat replicates the Ikat patterns found in the dyeing and weaving used across Aisan continents and later replicated in European tapestries and embroidery
Suzani is a paisley floral pattern based on traditional floral prints and embroideries of Afghan womens national dress.
Motasham is a revival of the fine and very old Kashan Motasham pattern
